I’m all about natural solutions to support our health and wellness and in some cases, to cure disease. So when I picked up a copy of The Health Sciences Institute Tomorrow’s Cancer Cures TODAY I was fascinated. It boasts “25 secret cancer therapies from around the world.”

Now cancer is no laughing matter. And I am in no way personally advocating any of the “25 secret therapies from around the world” that forms the basis of this book. If you do have cancer or suspect that you may have cancer get yourself to a trained medical professional who specializes in cancer and cancer treatment.

What I am advocating is knowledge, because, knowledge is power. And power is about knowing about options – options that may be right for you.

And who amongst us has not been touched by cancer in one way or another. Yes there has been cancer in my immediate family and friends and relatives alike have been touched by the dreaded big C. My concern about cancer is that after decades of research and billions of dollars that have been pumped into research, there is still no cure. Yes we seem to be masters of cancer treatment – the surgery, chemotherapy, radiation and drugs, but not of a cure.

But then you hear about cases where people have cured their cancer through diet and alternative methods. But when it comes to scientific proof concerning these alternative methods, the studies just don’t seem to be there. And when studies do surface, they are quickly debunked as fraud and buried as quickly as they surfaced or labeled as “new age” medicine.

What has been proven beyond a shadow of a doubt is that we can significantly reduce our risk of cancer by adopting healthy lifestyle changes including diet and exercise. This has been acknowledged by the medical community at large and the American Cancer Society.  But many don’t adopt healthy lifestyles, either through ignorance or because of lack of information.

There are more than 100 different types of cancer. And the statistics say that one in four of us will fall victim to cancer in our lifetime. Pretty high odds.  And of course we are all aware of  the economic benefits of not finding that illusive cure. It’s not in the FDA’s interest nor is in the interest of Big Pharma because treating cancer is, well, just so darn profitable.   But that’s not what this post is about.
